My last day in Africa (for this trip) is truckin' on by and I'm starting to think of all the things in Africa that I will miss! In a way, thats not true, because I have been sick for the last few days which some kind of food poisening or according to the Lonely Planet anything ranging from sleeping sickness to yellow fever... but being tired and grumpy doesn't make for the most cheerful traveller! Luckily I had my lovely mother with me who didn't mind when we had to get a taxi instead of walking 500 metres and even went to get me a soda despite getting lost in the streets of Stone town.
The days we spent at the beach were very nice and relaxing though - both ending up a smidgen redder than before (aiming for brown...). The view from my window was of old dhows sailing past at high tide and woman collecting seaweed from individual patches at low tide. Even Mum's fresh octupus (aka from a tin) and my fresh fish (stale to the point of inedibleness) dinner wasn't enough to put a damper on the area.
I have changed my ticket so that I skip my Dubai stopover, I will have to leave camel riding to another trip, as the thought of finding my way around another city while feeling so crap wasn't so tempting. So it is a sad goodbye to the country with some of, if not the most, friendliest people in Africa, beautiful mangos and mini bananas, amazing landscape ranging from the highest mountain in Africa (5895m - had to mention it again!) to some of the most gorgeous white sanded beaches to the dusty barren areas of Masaai villages. A sad goodbye, but the definite knowledge that one day soon I will definitely be back!
