Little Kirsty Ventures to Pastures New
After deciding to stay an extra day on the Island, we took a taxi to the popular "White Sand Beach" which was packed with resort hotels and western food restaurants- a tourist trap. We booked our transport to Cambodia and hitched another taxi to the national park to go and check out the highly recommended waterfalls of Koh Chang. We had to pay a small entrance fee and leave all of our food behind before we set out on the short jungle trek along the river to get to the waterfalls. First we reached some pools where people were enjoying a dip, and the trickling waterfalls looked impressive already- I thought we had arrived, until I realized that people were coming along the path and had obviouely been swimming too. So we continued along the slippery path until finally, a breathtaking view came into sight. The waterfall plunged from hundreds of metres up, into a lagoon below. Since it was monsoon season, the river was quite high, and we had to cross it to reach the rocks to enter the lagoon. We edged along a rope, over rocks, waist deep in water (bearing in mind we had my camera with us so had to be very careful!) Finally we reached the other side safely and found ourselves a spot on the rocks overlooking the spectacular waterfall. Darren jumped straight in and I took a few snaps. We met a couple of guys from England that were on hol and had a little throw of Frisbee in the lagoon with them. Luckily it was pretty quite so loads of space to plunge off rocks and splash around. The boys found a nice big water spider on one of the rocks and all acted interested but I'm sure they were actually petrified! The 4 of us climbed up slippery rocks to get closer to the waterfall and get some snaps. One of the guys slid and cracked his backs of the mossy rocks. Think he mite have done some nasty damage. So we soon head back down to a safer spot. After a few hours we head back down to the other pool by the trickling stream and had a little skimming stones sesh. Finally head back to the hotel where we went for another play in the waves and finally a shower. Went to Nature Rocks for dinner again and had a few drinks before heading in for our last night on Koh Chang.
