Little Kirsty Ventures to Pastures New
Saturday 15th April- Snake Island
Met early to set off for "Snake Island". You might be able to guess the main inhabitants. Twas a teeny tiny island a short boat ride away from Pulau Tiga. As soon as we touched land, we came across some sea snakes, resting under a rock on the shore. Max took them out to show us. He said a bite results in death 5 minutes later, which made us all feel fab. I knew he was probably talking b******s- but u should've seen the boys- hilarious. Max asked who'd like to have the snake around their neck- Edward offered but he was shaking like crazy. I don't really understand the snake phobia thing. We had a little rock climb around the edge of the island and Max found us a nice handful of smaller snakes. Reminded me a bit of Indiana Jones. After getting some pics of the island and snakes, we headed off for a strip of sand just sitting in the middle of the sea. This was just.. breathtaking. Just like a stretch of sand we could swim off- so we were bang in the middle of nowhere, in South China Sea, just lapping up the sea, sand and sun. Was really fab.
On the way back to Tiga, the boat stopped at a small reef for us to snorkel over. Was a bit disappointing though cause the coral had been wrecked due to dynamite fishing. Was nice to get out for another dip though.
Once back at Tiga, we had a shower, grabbed some lunch, then headed back on the speed boat to the main land. Luckily there was transport waiting to take us back to KK. Georgie was unfortunately beginning to feel crappy again, so we took it easy for the rest of the day.
Enjoyed cocktails, missed dinner though and got an early night.
