Smelly feet and awkward jokes!!

I wanted to give this entry a title and the above seemed fitting!!

The hostel has a bar and every night they have live music or something going on tonight was an open mic night so I thought right ok I'll be sociable and see what it's about! The guy hosting JJ was a bit of an idiot!! He thought he was funny but he really wasn't. Oh and swore a lot!! First up was a comedian....so not funny! Then we had a Swedish singer who was actually really really good! He sang 3 songs with an acoustic guitar one of which was in Swedish and even though I had no idea what he was singing about his voice was amazing!! Then we had 2 more comedians who weren't funny it wasn't just that I didn't find them funny no one was laughing! One of them made some jokes about rape and gay people which were really inappropriate and very awkward!! Again I wasn't the only one not laughing!!

The smelly feet part... Well I've been wearing some converse type things with no socks and I've started to notice my feet are getting a little smelly so I make sure I wash them every night and spray my shoes! Tonight a guy checked in to my room and oh man his feet STUNK!!!! The room is really long and narrow with 3 bunk beds and he's bed is right by the door and mine is at the end of the room so I have to walk past his smelly shoes to go to the bathroom or leave the room. I honestly nearly gagged the first time I walked past it was awful! I'm going to buy an air freshener for my shoes now as I don't want them to get that bad!!

Aside from the above I had a really nice day today I met a friend of my friend Gillian who is living over here. We went to the CN tower which was pretty cool and had great views of the city. I think we were something like 133 stories high!! We found an English pub so popped in for a drink and got talking to a Canadian guy at the bar. He was a bit awkward and inappropriate too!! Something about these Canadians! I think it's safe to say I won't be falling in love with one!!

I'm off to Montreal tomorrow to see what that has to offer and speak some French!!

I think I've worked out the rest of my trip so will start to get everything booked soon.

I'm finding Canada a really hard place to backpack. I seem to be the only one doing it!! It's not like Australia and New Zealand where there are backpackers, backpacker bars and places to help you book and plan your trip it's like your here get on with it! I've noticed as well when I go to sit in the communal area to try talk to people and make friends everyone has they head in their phone!! No one is interested in talking!! 5 years ago we didn't have the Internet on our phones and had to rely on Internet cafes so it was easy to make friends! Jeez I sound old!!

It's cool though I'm still meeting people to talk to just not anyone to travel with. I think it will be better when I get over to the west cost.
