Wow what an amazing place Vancouver is!!
Yesterday I joined a tour from the hostel to Lynn Canyon. We walked around the city for a while and our tour guide Eric who is 74!! Gave us lots of info. We got on the bus to Lynn Canyon and hiked for a little while and came across a gorgeous lake where we sat and ate our lunch. Some people jumped in the lake but I didn't fancy walking round in wet clothes all day so I didn't bother!
We then walked across Lynn Canyon on a suspension bridge it was pretty cool.
I'd got talking to an Aussie girl Kim and after we got back to downtown from the trip we decided to leave the group which was fine to do and go to Stanley Park. We walked along the sea wall to get there which had great views. It was about 5 by the time we got to the park so we just walked a little way around. We'd seen that there was salsa that evening so didn't to head back to the hostel to get ready for it and when we got back we read the small print that said it was only the last Tuesday of the month!! So I just had dinner and didn't get an early night as I was up talking!!
Today has been amazing! On the trip yesterday I'd got talking to a few people about doing Grouse Mountain so that's what I did today! Hiked 1.8 miles up the mountain and when I say up I mean straight up! I was on my hands crawling up some parts!
We'd got to the mountain and the Grouse Grind which is the wAlking trail up which has lots of steps up was closed due to a medical emergency! They wasn't sure when it would open again. One if the girls j was with was so rude and said 'that's so unfair it's my last day here'!!! I was like someone could have just died up there be thankful it wasn't you!!
I decided to wait an hour and go for a coffee and see if they opened it again, Sandra and Andrea did the same as me but rude German girl Anna and Joseph decided to do a different trail up. We didn't think that trail went to the top so we went for coffee. An hour later it still hadn't opened so we did the other trail it was called the bcmc trail. I started the hike and was like this is so tough I can't do this there was no real path just tree roots and it was straight up and as I said I was on my hands and knees at parts!! I had to rest a few times as it was really hot too. A lady told us about the numbers on the signs that we were following at that the top was 160! It was good to know as we knew when we were half way and nearly there!! A guy called George randomly joined us at about 100 and walked the rest of the way with us. I say walk it wasn't really walking more climbing!! We stopped for a quick snack and I had 2 bites of doughnut and it gave me a sudden burst of energy! I even ran a little bit!! We finally made the top after 2 hours and 20 minutes!! The views from the top were amazing! There was another peak to climb to get to the very top so we walked up that too!!
There were grizzly bears in an enclosure at the top they were really cute!!
We got the cable car back down which was pretty fun it only took about 5 minutes to get down!! We should have took it up would have been much faster!! Ha ha
I found out that the medical emergency was that a guy had a heart attack and died
