Today, Saturday, has been spent on the island of Curacao. I had dreamed of going here for a long time, don't know why really, it is just one of those random, remote places I have always wanted to go to. And now I have been there!
We got up early to get the most out of the day. As soon as we stepped out of the ship, we found a tour to join, with the locals, not with the cruise line! It was a 2 hour tour of the south part of the island. I actually wanted to go up north, but they didn't do tours up there. There was not much interesting on the tour, a little bit disappointed, we saw mostly houses, and the guide was extremely religious, and kept saying «God bless y'all», and sang Christian songs the whole time, so that turned me off quite a bit! Anyways, we got to see a part of the island outside of the capital.
After the tour, we went into Willemstad, the capital city, which is on the UNESCO's world heritage list. It was pretty there, with lots of colours and old buildings, so we had a walk around, and looked in some shops.
Went back to the ship for some lunch, and after that took a walk to the closest beach. Got lost, so I asked a local guy, who ended up walking us all the way there! Very friendly people! The beach was ok, all I wanted was to have one more last swim in the Caribbean sea.
