From fast and furious to "Go Slow".
We were picked up from our pier at 9am by a big guy in a speedboat that looked like "the Rock". We hopped in and held on tight! According to "the Rock" "if it's not fast it's not a real sport, that's why we don't golf in Belize!" About a minute later we were all climbing on to a 38 foot catamaran for a day of snorkelling and sailing with "Seaduced".
The barrier reef is about a kilometer from the shore of Ambergris. We can see the waves breaking on the reef from our beach. The wind was really strong today so the waves on the reef were huge! We sailed for about 30 minutes to get to our first stop at "Hol Chan". There were about 15 in our group, so they split us up and our guides Manuel and Leonard swam with us naming the fish as we saw them. Cannot remember them all but we did see a spotted stingray and a southern grey stingray,a big barracuda, heaps of angelfish and teeny little damsel fish. All beautiful.
Back onto the cat for refreshments on the way to "Shark Ray Alley". We all jumped back in while Leonard threw chum in the water. This of course gets all the fish, sharks (they're just little nurse sharks ;)) and rays all excited...pretty cool to watch!
After all the fish had lunch we sailed on to Caye Caulker for our own lunch! The official motto of Caye Caulker is "go slow". It's a small island just south of Ambergris Caye with sand streets and no cars. Everyone rides bikes or drives golf carts. Very quiet and laid back..."no shirt, no shoes, no problem".
After our stop at Caye Caulker we settled in for a lazy sail back to San Pedro.
Beautiful day! Lots of fun! Despite all the sunscreen Wayne and I are both a bit pink. Think tomorrow we'll spend some time in the shade.

Amanda Sounds like you two are having a great time! The pictures are beautiful... love the sun. You will be happy to hear that it has been raining here. Rainy and dark.
Talia Looks like you guys are having a fantastic time in Belize. Great reading about your fun daily trips, almost makes me feel like I'm not sitting in some miserable cold/rainy/dreary location :) Hope you can ward off a burn!! Can't wait to read more about your travels!
