We reached Lusaka, capital of Zambia, after 3 long days on the road. The only real highlights of these three days, apart from interesting scenery, was the stunning views from Luongwe Suspension Bridge and Trevor nearly being refused entry to Zambia due to his yellow fever certificate not having a date on it. Border guards needed monetary persuasion to allow Trevor entry to the country and we felt it was slightly ironic that the first sign we passed in Zambia was a massive billboard saying "Stamp Out Corruption"...
We spent a pleasant few hours wandering round Lusaka before heading to the campsite where Mark and I went out on a bush walk with our driver Jiri (a trained bush tracker). We got within feet of a family of 5 giraffes (including 2 baby giraffes) and got to practise our stealthy creeping techniques...Mark was rubbish!
Following a gorgeous dinner round the camp fire (cooked by Kim!) we rather thought Cath was going slightly mad when she rather confusedly came back from the toilet saying "I think there are zebras by the toilets...!" "Yeah right" we scoffed..... wandering over only to find no less than 6 zebras grazing contentedly on grass outside the toilet block - random!
