We arrived in Cape Town mid morning and sadly unloaded our stuff from the truck. Finishing our 7 week trip was a bit of an anti-climax and everyone wandered around looking a bit lost until taxis arrived to cart people off to their hotels! We hope to catch up with a few of the guys later in our trip anyway...so it wasn't really goodbye for us!
Our first 3 days in Cape Town were sunny and beautiful but contrary to what everyone thinks - quite cold! We were slightly gutted to see a hot and sunny Wimbledon on the TV when we were wearing woolly hats and scarves! Still we made the most of the sun and made it up Table Mountain just minutes before clouds rolled in - it was just enough time to get some fab pics!
We hired a car for 2 days and drove down to Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, visited the penguins at Boulders beach (very cute) and strained our eyes to see whales in Hermanus (we saw spouting!). We managed to find a rather odd backpacker hostel to stay in - managed by and inhabited by people so stoned they could hardly talk let alone sort us out a key!
Other highlights were the open top bus tour of the city (yes we sat on the top deck and Kim's nose turned bright red in the cold), the Two Oceans Aquarium, eating loads of tasty seafood and catching up with Jordan and Laura for dinner (who had left the trip at Livingstone).
Our final 3 days in Cape Town were rainy and cold... our ferry to Robben Island was cancelled which we were gutted about... we spent the time at the launderette instead (joy!)
