So after a brief few days in the Cameron highlands it was on to Kuala Lumpur for me and jess. So on to the bus we went. The bus journey is pretty insignificant as we both managed to fall asleep, so three/four hours later we awoke in a bus station in the busy, bustling city of KL.
We hadnt planned to stay anywhere so we had the usual conversation of what do we do, where do we go, why the didn't we book anywhere. You would have thought being nearly two months in that we would have got the hang of this travelling business, but fact is we are still very much amateurs. Anyways we found a hostel in Chinatown... I decided to have a bit of a hissy fit as I hated it. Someone had all their stuff on my bed, you had to walk through about fifty people to get to your bed, you couldn't leave your stuff anywhere without it being in everyone else's way and the aircon was s*** #rantover. Kl was boiling where we had just come from the Cameron highlands and we literally dumped our stuff in the hostel, showered and headed out in search for food.
We ended up in MCDONALD'S. - we were starving, it was cheap and basically we couldn't resist. We also didn't have a clue about where we were going or what we were doing. After getting fat on McDonald's (I ordered a large- can't believe I'm saying this like I'm proud) we had a browse around Chinatown. It has such a great vibe but you get constantly pestered as your walking through "hey beauty over here" "want a watch?" - actually I've got a watch on "buy another, just one more". Followed by "handbag for you lady" errr no that will most certainly not fit in my rucksack!!!! People also kept calling us lady gaga I blamed the blonde hair... The pestering just got so annoying and you know it's reaches an all time high when you've previously looked at a Justin bieber top and you walk past the same stall five minutes later to which the guy shouts "Justin bieber lover- top with him for you?" Probably an all time low in my life. The fact of mine and jess's navigation abilities were also questioned during our browse round Chinatown. You see the first time we found (what happened to be) china town market we actually thought we were at central market it wasnt until later that night that we actually got told differently. In short for any of you reading the blog we probably think we have been to places we haven't and have probably done the things we think we want to do- get me lol?
Two of the girls we were in a hostel with in the Cameron highlands were staying at the same hostel as us in KL which was a nice surprise. It's so nice to see people that you've met before and see them again! That night me, ruby and jess all decided to go to the cinema. A boy we had met previously (James) was also in KL so we invited him to come to the cinema with us also. Our plans changed somewhat. We all went out for a huge Indian which cost like 3.00, then we walked through central market (this was how me and jess found out that that we hadnt actually been there. We all decided to head to the cinema in the petronas towers. KL at night is beautiful. There are so many lights... The petronas towers are also spectacular. The architecture is stunning and honestly they are a must see!!!! *jaw drops*
There was a fountain light show outside the towers which we all decided to sit and watch. I have to be honest it has nothing on Dubai. But it was still fun to watch with our new found friends. After checking out the mall - there is an amazing fresh food shop which for anyone's future reference also stocks an outstanding collection of magazines. Cosmopolitatin in every language - HELLO HEAVEN. Ruby decided not to come to the cinema but me, James and jess went to see the hangover 3 for the bargain price of 3.25 a ticket- SCREW YOU ODEON, YOU ROBBING BA#%^*DS. However the cinema didnt sell sweets - devastated kim. Who goes to the cinema without sweets?! Ridiculous... Anyways me and jess ctuly giggled the whole way through the film and had a fab night at the cinema.
KL has amazing transport but it comes in three forms- which means getting about anywhere actually ends up being a nightmare as you usually have to change halfway through a journey. You also can't buy a ticket to a final destination if you are using two diffetent modes of transport to get there. you have to get counters so far along the line. And that's another thing instead of getting a ticket you get a little blue plastic disc which you scan in. I have never actually loved the tube so much in my life. Since I've came away the one thing that used to kill me in London is the one thing which I think is simply amazing. Due to my new found love of the tune there is still the chance for me to cut the sim out of my oyster and affix to a wand thus allowing me to magically zap my way through the barriers in the future... Anyways back to KL.
So me and jess also got our bums over to lake gardens which were beautiful until it started raining! HEAVILY. Loads of people were having their wedding photographs done there so we were people watching that and we also had a close encounter with a HUGE lizard!!! And I mean GIGANTIC. It was as Bridget would say a RAPSCALLION REPTILE.
Me and jess went back to the mall later in the week and purchased our babies- our iPads. BIG LOVE FOR THOSE BABIES FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE FOR US. We also managed to sample some frozen yoghurt half was great. Half was foul. But that's the way with life isn't it you win some, you lose some. But if you ever have frozen yoghurt don't go for a bright green one beginning with P. GROSS.
We spent the rest of our time in KL eating in little india- I swear we will never taste Indian food this good ever again. Maybe we should plan a little trip to India just to see tho. Only fair to try.. Wouldn't want to just assume. We also visited the national art gallery which was amazing, spent the day at a lake, got to see a miniature version of kl city which all lit up, and went to see superman at the cinema. Well Henry cavill was in it so we kind of didnt haw a choice in not going. Please note that the next time we went back to the cinema we were well ladled with sweets and chocolate.
My favourite moment of the week was probably when the adverts for superman had just finished (they were on for approx two minutes max) and I turned to jess with a single bar f chocolate and said I can't believe I've nearly eaten this before the film starts to which she replied I've finished mine and she had a double bar. It's times like these why I realise we're best friends. Ha
Anyways peace and love as always
Speak soon
