After a great week and so in penang (yes we stayed longer than we planned!) we finally managed to get the bus and make our way to the Cameron highlands and let me tell you all something right now, it was the most amazingly beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life.
breathtakingly, painstakingly beautiful.
Out of this world Incredible.
Luckily we were all staying at the same hostel so we all got dropped off right outside. I was surprised we actually made it as the guys driving was so terrible I thought we were going to die. We arrived we were paying like £2.50 a night I don't know what we expected but in short I kind of expected a bit more than than what we got.
The room had a smell which you couldn't quite place (someone later told us they had a cat and it was cat piss-lovely) we put our mosquito nets up and I've never been so thankful for it. Not to keep the Mosquitos out but to keep the potential vermin off of me which I could hear scratching above my head at nights. In short I felt like I was on I'm a celebrity get me out of here without the celebrity status. However it was fun and we both felt like we were on a school trip.
We did a trip to see the largest blooming flower in Malaysia, this involved a two hour trek. Please have an image of us in boiling heat, in our walking boots, sweating, leaf garlands round our head, kim having a massive strop as she is the most clumsiest person in the world. Well we made it there eventually..... Yes it was after a lot of moaning on my behalf. but lets face it girls when your wearing leggings and you get a sweaty bum.... well no more needs to be said. The flower was ugly. I couldn't even take a picture of it... It was so disappointing it looked like something from alien! And the thing that amazed me the most was that they have a man whom i called the flower hunter whose job it is to find these flowers as they only bloom for 7 days. We then went to a butterfly farm. It was rather sadistic as there were quite a few dead butterflies.... :( at first this was upsetting but then we started viewing this in a rather positive light - we actually ended up taking photos of the dead butterflies as they were much easier when they didn't fly off. We also went to a strawberry farm (not the best I have to say - pick your own at home is wayyyy better. Next year I cannot wait to go strawberry picking) but we got a punnet of strawbs and our group chilled out munching them, Anthony (French boy in our group) decided to knock my entire punnet onto the floor halfway through my munch. So lucky for me he trotted to the counter, ordered a whole new punnet with the added bonus of cream :) yummmmy!
We should probably tell you a little bit about our group who were on the trip. Obviously there was me and jess and then there was anythony (French boy) and James and oli. All lovely! All great at pulling me up hills and all fabulous at posing for pictures and drinking tea. We also had a brilliant tour guide for the day who named me and jess princess 1 and 2 (I quite liked this- may start getting my parents to call me it when I'm home) he made us head garlands from huge leaves and was genuinely the nicest guy ever!
We also went to a tea plantation which was my favourite thing ever!!!! It was incredible of course all us Brits were mad for a cup of tea!!!! And then our tour guide made us do loads of poses in and on the tea leaves!!! That night we went out as a group with some other people from our hostel to have an Indian. When a massive storm came, If any of you Envisaged us drinking beer with our Indian replace this with some masala tea. Which tastes like Christmas in a cup. :)
That night after a beautiful shower we slept soundly :) the next day jess went off on another trek with the guys and I errrrr stayed in bed *lazy* they came back and me jess and James grabbed some lunch before James left for KL me and jess chilled out for the rest of the day and woke the next morning ready to head off to continue our adventure in Kuala Lumpur :)
Peace and love
Kim and jess xo
