So we have spent the past four nights/ 3 days in Cambodia and I can honestly say we have both loved it. After spending over a week in 2 cities- Dubai and Bangkok. Cambodia was a welcome leafy, green change which we grasped with both hands... Apparently you can take the girl out of the shire but you can't take the countryside out of the girl.
So ill give you the low down on what we got upto in a second. But firstly I have to tell you how amazing our hostel was. I shouldn't call it a hostel, so i shall rephrase -HOTEL. It was BEAUTIFUL!. We walked up the path of banana trees, hammocks, lit up pool, palm trees with a small fountain and was greeted by the nicest people I have probably ever met in my life (clearly says a lot about my friends ;)....) we had a first floor room and our bags got carried up to our room for us. As for the room itself, well it was the height of luxury for us. We had towels, I repeat TOWELS and a duvet. Crisp, clean linen so fresh and lowly and homely. And omg we loved it! We paid £10 each a night for a huge twin room which included breakfast (yummy!!!!) and we also had free wifi, bike hire and a tuk tuk service to town if we wanted them. Basically if anyone is thinking about going to Cambodia me and jess highly recommend the siem reap garden inn. YOU SHOULD ALL STAY THERE.
so the first night we headed out for some food and ended up at this little restaurant quite near us. We didn't really look at the menu but being the girls that we are, we entered based on looks (bamboo, trees, fairy lights, acoustic music -WINNER! not that we base everything on appearances of course- I mean look at jess's celebrity crushes MARILYN MANSON WEIRDO)
The god was great and relatively cheap. We did consider ordering the barbecued frog but in the end settled for something relatively normal. We did try fresh spring rolls tho! Which is now our new favourite thing to eat. We left after our meal as we had to be up at 4am the next morning to see the sunrise over the temples.
We decided to hire a tuk tuk for the whole day ($30- approx £10.00 each) to drive us around 5 different temples. We got up early, saw the sunrise (which was amazing) and visited the temples where we had lots of fun with our cameras. Our tuk tuk driver even took us to get breakfast and we saw some wild monkeys (we want a pet monkey) all in all it was a great first day. We went back to the pool where we did a spot of sunbathing and swimming. then retired to our rooms.
The second day we decided to have a lazy day. This was the original plan. We ate breakfast and then decided to take advantage of the free bicycles at the hotel. We ended up cycling all the way to Angkor Wat (12 mile round trip)! We then had a dip and got ready to go out as Cambodia has a night market. Markets are really dangerous here! Everything is really pretty and cute and you basically just want to buy everything. We had one drink up pub street and went back to our hotel as we had booked a bus to take us to ...........
Well you won't believe this but the Ffffing bus and yes I really do mean ffffing didn't turn up. We were up at 5am and the bus didn't turn up which ffffed up our entire plans to go to this place which can only be described as almost paradise (or google images makes it look like that anyways) we decided to stay at our hotel another night and make our way back to Bangkok the next day. We we're so exhausted we spent the day by the pool and even in bed where we watched home alone, pirates of the Caribbean and the bounty hunter (things I'm pretty sure we could have done in England) we've been doing so much tho I think we kind of ran out of steam... So anyways cambodia was kind of our chill out place. We're off to koh Tao tomorrow night (one of the thai islands) we have pretty much 24 hours of travelling ahead of us now GLORIOUS!
peace and love
