Hello Cambodia!!!
Today me and jess have made the long trek to Siem Reap. It's been an experience.... And it's cost us about £35.00 to get there. This price included; a taxi to the bus station, a bus to the border station, a tuk tuk (with five other people in!!!! Our bags actually had to be tied onto the back of the tuk tuk- which I clung onto for dear life) to the border gates, the price of our visas, and a minibus for 9 people to siem reap centre. We've booked to stay at the Siem reap garden inn for two nights and are very excited as it has a pool!!! YAY and free bike hire. Since our bike ride the other day we have become very keen on the biking front and can't wait to do it again. We've already planned to hire bikes in Bali.
The bus to the border took about 5 hours. As the only English people on the bus we appeared to fascinate a young thai girl who literally couldn't stop staring at us. The air con above me had a leak which meant I got dripped on rather alot and some woman had I wish you a merry Christmas (music only no lyrics) as her ringtone which went off like 5 times! We questioned the fact if this woman actually knew what the song was and if she realised it was a Christmas carol. It was so funny to hear it in a foreign place at the beginning of may!
There's so much security to get into Cambodia with people with guns Getting on the bus to check - I dot actually know what they were checking but they never asked me and jess for anything so I guess we were ok. They've also granted our visas now so if there was a problem they can't really go back on it :)
Getting a visa in Cambodia is quite the experience. Firstly hardly anyone can speak English and its very basic. Secondly they would probably grant anyone a visa as long as you handed over your money - "pay, pay, pay" we also had to give our fingerprints which I think is really cool! It made me feel like i want to be a forensic scientist!!! Maybe this should be my future career. Jess also got harassed by a security guard who made her have her photo taken with him an then made her kiss him on the cheek hahahaha!
Anyways we're driving through Cambodia now in our minibus with 9 other people. We thought we would draft this when we had a spare few five minutes. So we'll publish it later when were connected to wifi :)
Peace and love
Kim and jess xo
