Yesterday we got the bus up to Vang Vieng, which is little mountain town four hours north of Vientiane. We arrived at 2pm and checked into the Babylon Guesthouse. We have this massive room, with three double beds and a bathroom and we paid less than two pund each per night. We woke up on the overnight train at about 6am, which is the earliest we had woken up in the whole month so far. Had breakfast on the train with some interesting coffee. When we got of the train at Nong Khai, we had to get a tuk tuk to the border to depart from Thailand, then get a bus over the Friendship Bridge to Laos immigration to get a visa on arrival. There is a tourist boat that runs up and down the river in Bangkok so we decided to check it out as it was only 100 baht for the day and you can get on and off as many times as you like. It also allowed us to go to the central post office and send loads of our clothes home, we packed waaaay too much stuff.
