Well hello everyone,
For the last 6 days me and kieran have been on the island of Ko Samui. We Set off from Bangkok last Sunday around 7.30pm for an over night bus down to the ferry point to get here.We were going to get the over night train down, but there was only buses available. So a bus it was.The bus looked nice and new and had air con the t.a.t. people had given us the front seats up stairs as you have more leg room.As the bus took off for the jouney the film Matrix 3 started. We all watched but as the road was bumpy the film stopped and started a few times as the disk kept skipping.2nd film Lord of war, this was a good film until the bus stopped for everyone to get off for a break then when we returned to catch the end the drivers turned off the lights and the tv for bed! So we decided to get some kip.All the way there i think the whole bus must of slept in 30min intervals as the chairs were not comfortable at all.The seats were so high up that you feet didnt touch the floor. You would find a comfy spot for a bit then wake up with an aching neck, leg, ect..Anyways we arrived at our destination at 6.15am where we had breakfast and waited for a lift to the pier.We got our lift and waited again until 8am for our boat to Koh Samui.
The boat was ready by 8.15am so we boarded and took our 2.5 hour journey to the island followed by a 30 min mini bus trip to our resort.I was so glad to be back on land again by then as the boat had me feeling a wee bit sea sick! Our resort is nice just how it looked in the pictures. We were shown our room which has warm shower, double bed and single, cable tv and electric!! Spoilt! As we didnt get much sleep from the traveling we had a lil nap then headed off into the main part of the island Cheawang.
Cheawang is the busiest part of the island with the best beach, the the rest of the island is quiter. We had a look around and had some tea. Then headed to the beach for a stroll. As it was evening the tide was in but we managed to sit at one of the bars and had a drink. While sitting there we saw a sign saying no swimming as the sea is to dangerous. We thought that may of been just that part of the beach and didnt think much of it.
The nxt day we got up and walked down to our beach.(bout 8 meters from our door) all looked lovely but when attempting to go for a swim, the sea was to rough and has big rocks underneath so you cant really walk around or play frisbe init . The weather on this island is also the most unpredictable in Thailand. They cant even give you a recomended time of year to come for weather. On the 3rd day we decided to head to another town by foot stopping for breakfast on the way.As we ate the skies opened up for 10min raining really hard. But as we headed on it had stopped. We found the nxt town Lami a very touresty area full of bars and shops ect..We didnt stop for long before heading back as it had taken over an hour to get there. After about 30min it started to rain so we stopped for a drink to try and dodge some of it.But it just got harder. We finnished our drinks and went on.I dont think ever walked through rain like that .lol. There was so much that we ended up wading through puddles and proberly needed goggles with wipers on them to see. When we got back we had to take our clothes off before getting inside we were that wet. lol!!
.
On the 4th day went to see a Thai boxing match. We had planned to go to one in Chaing Mai but never got round to it.It cost about 11 pounds and you got a free drink.Started at 9-pm and fin around 12.Was a really good night. There was about 8 fights starting with kids weighing 60lbs up to men weighing 140lbs.They were supposed to be the heaviest weight.Tiny compared to the average westerner.lol.I think there was about 4 knockouts to.We enjoyed the match so much that last night we went to another stadium. There was 7 fights last night. One woman was from Oz and she had a fight with a tiny Thai lady.It was obvious who wa going to win.The fight didnt last the 1st round and the little Thai girl was on the floor winded.Felt kinda bad for her.Later there was an English guy named John to fight. He was our main attraction.Loads of people cheered him on.As he stepped in the ring we were all eager to see who he would be fighting. Then this little but also large Thai guy came out.He looked like a Flabbier virsion of chuck from "The gooneys". Bless him. Everyone knew he didnt stand a chance. The English fighter had him on the floor in seconds..The night ended with a knockout betwen to thai guys.
Its now sunday and tonight is the fullmoon party!! Wahoo!! Were getting a taxi to the pier about 8-8.30 then at 9pm the speed boat takes us to Kho Pha-nagn.Should be a wicked night. Will catch up again with you all soon to say how it went.Sorry anout the size of the font its ust got bigger and wont let me make it smaller. lol!
