evening all,its kierans time to tel you about our adventures!!!
well since the last mail we have been to benidorme....sorry i mean koh chang. there isnt much difference apart from the language and people who live there.
we(hannah) woke up early to book some tickets to leave the gorgeous koh samet to visit koh chang. hannah came back to tell me to get up as we had aproximatly 40 mins to get to the pier to catch a ferry. i decided to wake up had a shower packed mystuff and then we had 35 mins to get to the pier. we went to say goodbye to our hostel owners to find they had gone to cambodia for the day!!! b*****s!! but luckily the 2 thai guys working for them gave a lift down to the pier on there mopeds. we booked our tickets and walked to the pier to find the boat was actually leaving 30 mins later then we(hannah thought) :-) oh well i was awake and with a belly full of milk we waited.
we got the ferry across to ban phe(ferry port on other side) then waited in the tourist office for the bus to pick us up. we got on a nice big double decker and after a 2-3 hour journey ended up at the ferry port. they were really helpfull and we ended up booking our accomodation at the very nice looking apple resort. we got the the ferry after eating a spot of brekky(rice and stuff) and got on a car which took us 2 mins up the road, very nice. my way of travelling. we then got the ferry which took about 1 hour to get across to the other side.
we arrived on the other side and boarded another form of transport, taxi thing this time and they drove through winding roads,up and down to the resort of apple. we crossed the road through all the rubble from the work going on around and met a nice gentleman who tried to sell us a snorkelling trip(surprise there) he showed us to our room and to our surprise was very nice, had the crapest fan in the world though. from there we left our stuff and set up to hunt some food. we trundled up the road for about 5 mins and found a food hall, which would become our 2nd home for 3 days. food dirt cheap, good portions and very nice. we then strolled up the road i bought a vest and a very fetching flowry green shirt! very nice and then we went down for a beer or 2! i had 2 then a few more. so we sat and watched a big screen showing robbie williams concert so we drank more. after a few hours sat on the sand we hit the sack ready to get up in the morn and enjoy the glorious beach!
we rose nice and late the next day feeling a little ok, and walked towards the beach to be encountered by what seemed to be the entire ocean. the beach of last night had dissapered and it wasnt untill around 3 o'clock that the tide retreated and revealed some sand. we went in for a dip and were pleasently suprised at how clear and gorgeous the sea was. 1 hour later we were out and ready to get changed and go out for tea.
the next day was a similar story but we had more time in the sea and time to catch some rays. the sun was gorgeous and we were cooking, then it rained. but was a nice rain so we got in the sea and the rain went. typical, went in the sea to keep dry and it stopped raining. that night was our last night here as we had seen all we had seen and thought about moving more down south.
so we woke the next day checked out and headed to the pier on a taxi thing to catch the 9.00am ferry across. we timed it perfectly and as soon as we got to the port the fery took off and we started an hour trip across to the ferry point.
we arrived on the other side and booked a bus to take us to ko san road(bangkok). the sign said it would take us 6 hours to get to bangkok so we paid up and waited for the bus. we got on the bus and started what seemed to be the longest 6 hours in history, probably because it took us 8 1/2 hours. the bus was nice and big but we had to very pointless stops which included and stop about 40 miles from bangkok in which the coach drove up a 1 way main street the wrong way. all this to get to a small market area(me thinks a small amoutn of commission was involved). we got back on the bus after 30 mins and a cheese sandwich, and hannha had an ice cream,ah how nice, adn headed straight for the bangkok traffic! i dont know if you have ever seen it but it may be the 8 wonder of the world. its hunrendous and so slow. we finally got through and the bus dropped us off in an extremrely busy area full of backpackers and we set off to find somewhere to stay. we found a lovely, sorry, rubbish hostel called new joes(it didnt look very new) chexked in adn set out to look around the busy yet intriguing koh san road.
