Hey everyone!!!
Well we have made it back in one piece. Was a really good 3 days.We were picked up on tuesday at 9.30am with the rest of our group already in the van. There were 9 of us going plus our guide. Our guide Noi gave us a bag each to use and we got in.On the way we stopped off at a market so Noi could buy our food and told everyone to buy sweets for the tribe children. He told us we had 10 min to be back at the van.30mins later we were still waiting for him.lol. We all got back into the van and drove 2hrs up to the hills. The first place we arrived was a tribes village were we all sat and ate our lunch. Egg fried rice and veg, was really tastey but a lil bit greasy towards the end. While we were there we had children and woman all around us asking us to buy there goods.Mainly jewlery. It was kinda of creepy after a while as the children just kept saying "hello 10 baht" over and over! After 30min or so they were still saying it in a droanie way as if they were about to go sleep. After lunch we started our treck, and the children still followed us across a few streams and up a hill or two until they couldnt go any further. We were all suprised there throats werent hurting. We continued walking for about 3 hours with a 5 min break every now and then.It was so warm sticky and humid and everyone clothes were soaked. We were all told that we would get to go in a waterfull to cool off on our way.But when we asked about it Noi said it wasnt going to be until the following day .We arrived at our first camp around 5pm, was in a really nice place with a stream running past it!We had to wait for the keys so eveyone stripped off and sat in the water. Was lovely!!we washed our clothes and hung them on trees ect...Really felt like we were back to nature. That night we all got to know each other a bit better. There was a girl from Bristol ,a couple from Belguim two girls and a woman from France and a girl from Holland.Noi cooked us some really delicious food.Rice, mixed veg with chicken , bamboo with pork and beanspouts with tofo. All washed down with a few beers. We all went to bed around 11/12 and got up around 7.30am for a wash in the stream.Unfortunetly it rained in the night and most of our clothes were still wet.But we did have more to wear.Breakfast was also good, toast with a bolied egg, jam ,coffee, jasmin tea they made there and then with leafs and twigs and some bananas. As we were eating 5 elephants arrived to take us on our way.It was quite a bumpy ride but also a good experience.I felt sorry for them though having to carry us for an hour.
When they dropped us off we had to walk up stream, we all tried to stick to the rocks and anything from falling in the water but in the end everyones feet were soaking, lol. After an hr or so we reached the waterfall. It was so refreshing!! Again we all stripped off and took it in turns cooling off.The next part of the treck was for about 2.hrs and a half hours up into the hills in amoungst the trees. We stopped up there for our lunch, wich was rice and veg wrapped up in a banana leaf.Again so yummy. Then Noi passed around a tiny little chilli for everyone to bite from.Only kieran and another took a bite, which ended up blowing there heads off. after lunch we trecked on up and down very steap hills. This part was the most slippery kieran slipped a quite a few times but never right over. But i ended up sliding down on my bum.lol.
We arrived at another tribe village around 4pm.This was where we were all staying for the night. Its was really quite nice, had a lil school were the children went from 7 yrs and up.We all showered and washed clothes and waited for tea. This time we had a curry kinda soup with potato in it, rice , mixed veg, spicy runner beans with pork and couget and chicken. After tea the tribes children put on there traditional costumes and danced for us, half way through they took our hands and got us to dance to.After the dancing they all sang to us in Thai and asked us to sing back to them.We all looked at each other and tried to think of a song that we would all know the words to.We settled for "happy birthday" and "we wish you a merry xmas".lol
On our last day we said good bye to the tribes people and headed off to the river for some bamboo rafting. On the way it started to rain hard so we all dug out our water proofs.Kieran had a bright orange jacket and mine was blue.A couple of our group had a all in one water proof jacket that made them look like a giant condoms lol.We did the bamboo rafting, 20 mins down the river. Then headed back to chaing mai. When we got back we were hot, sticky, muddy and kinda smelly so was really looking forward to a shower with soap.but when we got in our hostel had no water, so we had tro wait another 2hrs for it to be fixed.
The treck on a whole was really good, and a nice experience.Going out tonight with the people we trecked with so all should be good!! Hope all is well with everyone, speak in a few days love kie and han x x x
