Monday 22nd February
- Lisa and I got up early to do Uncle Brian's Rainforest trip. The bus was late and so Joe actually made it down....very hungover and in last night's shirt to join me and Lisa on the trip.
First stop:
- Baldina a tiny town which seemed like it was stuck in the 70's or something. The coach kept doing turns around the roundabout this didn't help Joes hangover!
- Josephine falls: everyone went down to a stream where the flow of water was coming through, there was a steep rock that people were sliding down but we didn't want to get in. It was super early and freezing I didn't fancy sitting cold and wet on the bus to the next place and neither did Lisa!
- Lunch was nice at a little cafe type restaurant outside we all sat and helped ourselves to chicken and veggies and sticky toffee pudding. Biscuits and tea had been provided before this anyway and we had hot chocolate with marshmallows given in the afternoon so I was impressed by their attention on food for us.
- Millaa Millaa waterfall: this is where Peter Andre did his filming for 'Mysterious Girl' and also the Radox hair flick waterfall advert was done. Our guide was encouraging girls and guys to get in the water to replicate the hair flick but this water was even colder than the last lot....we again decided against it and admired the view and went for a paddle in the water instead.
- Volcanic lake/water: I expected the water at this stop off to be hotter in being described as 'Volcanic' but it was fine to climb in and have a swim. Joe and I went off to the shallower area and chilled chatting next to all the kids playing instead of trying to tread water with everyone in the deeper part.
- Platypus watching: well the clue is in the name of the activity, by this point I was tired. I did see a platypus but I didn't feel it needed a half hour stop off point!
- Hostel for a cider: final stop of the day was a lovely little hostel in the middle of nowhere. I got a cider and Joe picked up a guitar and played the usual song Wonderwall by Oasis along with some other tunes. It was nice and relaxed and I thought about my last few days in Oz coming to an end which I never thought I'd have been pleased about but I was.
- We got dropped back at the hostel hours later after being on what felt like a party bus with the guide getting people to dance in the aisle way whilst we went round the most windy roads. I then went for a nice curry with Lisa, Joe and his friend Nick before getting to bed.
