Sunday
We got up and went for a stroll around the town, finding a part of the riverside where you could paddle and realising how fast the current was. We decided after breakfast to just have a chilled day in the sun, as the place we were staying at had a nice little garden area with sun loungers, so we chilled out for a bit and saw the owners little boy (about 3 or 4) who the afternoon before had been trying to play with us. They also had a little dog that was always pottering around and wanting to be played with who was cute. Dylan had later named him Oscar but I overheard the owner telling someone his son referred to the dog as 'Bingo'.
By the afternoon, Pat and Dylan (both friends from home in Oz couldn't remember if I've said that or not already) came over and had decided to get a room at our guest house as it was same value as where they were before but had nicer rooms to the dorm they were in. They asked us to go to Blue lagoon with them which was 25,000 kip each for the tuk tuk there and back, 5,000 kip each to cross a bridge which I was going mad about being ridiculous it wasn't even being managed by anyone it was just a random wooden bridge, then 10,000 kip to get in. It was a nice little area to be able to swim and lie on the grass but then you'd have to pay for toilets, drinks and even the slide there. There were lots of Asian people there in big groups with their umbrellas to shade them (this was also common in Vietnam) and their matching life jackets. They all stood to one side and watched and cheered as people jumped off this large tree and off a swing rope. A few of them had a go and it was really comical to watch. I went on the swing rope and gladly didn't hurt myself. Pat went off to see the caves on his own while we chilled and then when he came back we went back to our tuk tuk guy and headed back.
Later on, Lauren and I went for some dinner at a place we had seen advertise doing Sunday dinners, then invited our friends the beasty hearts over for some drinks who had just arrived in Vang Vieng. Ben had left the group to go onto meet one of his friends in Hong Kong I think it was and Katie and Becky had stayed back in Luang Prabang another night as Becky also wasn't feeling great. Lauren, Bianca, Saffi and Will joined us with Pat (Dylan had a bug that kept coming back so he chilled in the room on his own most of the night!) and we played a couple of card games and had a drink but everyone was pretty tired so we all went back off to our rooms earlyish. I called home and had a nice chat on video to my mum, dad, sister, grandad and nick who were all having the usual Sunday dinner without me. It was nice to see them all and I went to bed very happy.
