We got up at a decent time and decided to go book to go to Kuang Si Waterfall (50,000 kip) at 11.30am. We were picked up on time for once, and it took about an hour in a mini bus. Our return pickup was meant to be 15.30 but the guy changed it to 16.30 for an unknown reason. It was 20,000 more to then buy a ticket to get in. We enjoyed the stunning view and swam in the bottom parts of the falls. After nearly getting drowned by the power of the water, we managed with the help of an American couple and Asian guy to clamber onto one of the rocks - both of us gripping onto our tops and bottoms which would very easily have been whipped away with the rapid current! The water was freezing so we didn't stay in it long and instead chose to walk to find a spot of sunlight and listened to some music for an hour. By 3pm we'd had enough, so exited the park (strangely which was combined with a bear rescue centre) and went to get some snacks before getting picked up and returning to the guest house.
Back at the room we'd messaged the beasty hearts and arranged to see them later on in utopia, then headed to a bar called hive which had a lovely outdoor seating area and what looked like an amazing food menu which was a shame we'd just eaten. There was a fashion show on so we watched that with our pitcher of cocktail and then as it was quite dead we went onto utopia. As we were walking down, we heard some commotion on the other side of the road of a girl throwing up and people hustling around her. We then both laughed as we realised it was the rest of the beasty hearts. They saw us and shouted 'steveology' as we ran across to them and realised poor Lauren 2 was very very drunk and ill with it wheras the rest of them (Saffi, Bianca, Katie, Becky and Ben) were just really drunk. They took Lauren back to their hostel and met back up with us in utopia.
Utopia was a really chilled bar perfect for day and night. There was a massive floor sitting area with cushions where people were sat (including some hippy-like family with 3 cute little girls under the age of 11 with them) and it had a volley ball court where a game was happening. Ben drunkly tried to join in as the rest of us stood and shouted encouraging him on trying to embarrass him and generally laughing at him. The girls introduced us to Will, a new guy they'd met from their hostel who had coincidentally been in the same mini bus as Lauren and I to and back from Kuang Si Waterfall. The only reason we remembered Will was because he'd had a 45 minute conversation sat next to us with some other Australian guy on the economic turn out of the U.K. And Australia currently and cursorily wondering about how Laos collects tax (Lauren and I were wide eyed glancing at each other wondering when they'd shut up and thinking it sounded a bit like a competition of intelligence!) anyway so the pair of us then were referring to him as 'economics will' which we then felt bad about later as we got to know will and he's a really nice guy so poor judgement on our side. We all got up and had a dance and spotted this older bloke from Switzerland who had been on our gibbon experience dancing around on his own which was funny. At 12pm the bars close and everyone goes to bowling - the done thing here, so we all got in a tuk tuk and headed off.
At bowling, I was in a team with Katie, a guy called Pat who I at the time thought Will was going to pull and didn't even realise until later on the next day that Pat was straight, and Ben. I've never been good at bowling let along when drunk but we were playing as a team to try and get a higher overall score than the others. I can't tell you what the scores were by the end of the game I just know I was 3rd in our team with my score. Becky had nipped across to a shop and bought some vodka so we were all dancing around in front of a fan pretending we were in music videos and taking lots of humerous video recordings. I fell over at one point as drink had been split on the floor and really smacked my poor left knee (why is it always the left one?!) Anyway before the end of the night I wasn't feeling great and was sick in the ladies, some poor girl who tried to help me had got some of it on her top. As I came out the toilet with her I introduced her to Ben and they hit it off. The rest of us all got a tuk tuk back, we bought sandwiches off the street near our hostels (I was not impressed with mine and I'm still convinced the sandwich lady robbed me of 40,000 kip with the change!) and after getting lost as Id gone with the others back to their hostel and realised I just wanted my own bed, I found Lauren back near the sandwich place with Pat, I walked ahead and drunkly got to bed.
