Sunday & Monday
I woke up really early Sunday and went for a walk on the beach on my own when I came across a hammock so I lay reading my book before falling back to asleep. It was more comfortable outdoors being breezy and cooler than the room. I woke up to Lauren tapping me and standing over me looking very angry. Her flip flop still hadn't come back to shore which meant it was long gone, and she'd broken her sunglasses she'd just bought. We went and got breakfast and got our ticket for the afternoon speed ferry home before getting Lauren kitted out with some new flip flops and sunglasses and chilled on the beach. Dan, Craig and Henry appeared who had all gone out the night before and so were hungover and had some funny stories of their night. After chilling for a bit we left the others and Dan came with us to bongs to get some lunch. My cheese balls were taking ages to cook and we were supposed to be leaving at half 1. I reassured Lauren, who I now keep calling Monica (in reference to Monica from friends for being overly punctual and organised), that the speed ferry would be late as everything usually is. She went on ahead and I had to get them to takeaway as for once something was on time. I shovelled them down and when the ferry got going it was really really choppy so I was immediately regretting the cheese ball decision. Poor Lauren had her head stuck out the front window like a dog, someone was throwing up at the back and most people were taking anti-sickness tablets. Thankfully my cheese balls stayed down and Lauren wasn't sick either, it's a good job we had made the decision to go to bed early the night before or it would have been 50minutes of hell.
We arrived back to Sihanouk ville and headed to monkey republic (a place my friend from uni Helen had said was a good hostel) to chill out and use the wifi until our 6.30 tuk tuk pickup to the bus station. It was heavily storming and we had some dinner and then got on our way. We were, as usual, super early for the bus and when it turned up we were happy to see it had proper lie-down bed areas on it to sleep in instead of a recliner type seat and it also had wifi access. The next 12 hours were comfortable, we both managed to sleep and arrived in Siem Reap early morning where there was a tuk tuk there to take us to our hostel. In arriving at 7am It was too early to check in so we dropped out bags off and went for a walk to find some breakfast. We found a lovely little French cafe and did some other walking around what we think was a graveyard/some temples before getting back to the hostel about half 9, which felt so much later than that.
The hostel was called, Hi-Hostel and it was really good value for money ($7 a night). We were in an 8 bed female dorm which was cleaned daily, had great air con, were given towels and TWO pillows which has never happened before, we had breakfast included and it had a great rooftop pool. We were here for the next 4 nights so were really happy. We spent the rest of the day chilling and had a few beers and chatted to a couple of people around the pool area before going to a nice butterfly farm place for dinner and had an early night.
