We arrived in BA after an overnight flight from Lima, greeted by much
colder weather.First activity in BA was to watch the red devils draw
with Newcastle, a disappointing start but its a marathon not a sprint
I guess. Afterwards we walked around a bit, visited the Plaza de Mayo,
the main square which has some of the nicest buildings you´ll see.
From there we walked through the nieghbourhood of San Telmo, which is
a giant antiques market. Very nice area and more really class
buildings again. Our 2nd day we got the bus out to La Boca, home of
Boca Jnrs. This place was really cool, loads of tin houses painted all
sorts of colours (left over from painting boats). This is one of the
main areas for Tango dancing in Buenos Aires and you can see loads of
street orchestras and professional tango dancers, essentially busking.
We did a stadium tour of La Bombonera, Maradonas first home. I was
amazed how run down the ground was for the best supported club in
South America. We´re heading back to BA at the end of our trip around
Argentina so more to follow.
