After 139 km in the seat, we arrived at the ancient city of Tartu in luxurious accommodation. There was a porter to carry my bags to the large room and a huge bath for me to soak in! At the end of today's ride, we had to cycle over cobblestones , like we often did in these old towns or cities.
The next day we rode 143km. Now I say things like "oh it's only 143km, that's just 50 and 50 and 43! We cycles around a large lake called Lake Peipus. If I could swim across it, half way across I would be in Russia! Unfortunately here, one of my friends took his hands off the handles to point to a church, he hit a hole and fell off! We had to order an ambulance and try to explain in English to people who speak in Estonia. We had to wait for an hour and it was upsetting then it started to rain so we got in the car for the last 30km that day. The cyclist was fine.
On the final day, we had only 66km to the Russian border which is where our riding finished! It is very difficult to cross the border into Russia as it is not part of the European Union. Then the roads are extremely busy and unsafe to cycle on so we had planned a mini bus to take us to St Petersburg. I was feeling very relieved and proud that my ride had finished!!
