It's Sinéad eve!! (we fly to Melbourne tomorrow to stay with Carols sister Sinéad and David - our whole reason for the trip to Oz). I didn't see Carol this excited at our wedding! Hmmm...
I think I could potentially be killed if I try get the first hug outside Melbourne arrivals tomorrow when Sinéad picks us up!
Had a great night sleep in the laundry room despite 6am wake up. Woke up next to another French couple who obviously had the same ideas as us somewhere through the night!
Got chatting to some people who stayed around camp fire who said they got no sleep..har har har. Suckers.
Rolled away sleeping bag and swag for last time - I am not going to miss them. Good riddance!
Drive to Uluru lookout for sunrise which we accompanied with breakfast. Lovely sunrise with some cool pics.
Was cool to se Uluru light up in so many colours. Drive to base of Uluru and started our 10km hike which took about 1:50. Was a nice flat walk, thankfully, seen as my Hamstring was in pieces after 'Cereal Killer' last night'.
You really don't get a feeling for actual size of Uluru walking around base of it. Weird low clouds formed at Uluru an due to high winds the walk up Uluru was closed. I really don't see how they can have the walk open any day, it's stupidity (not to mention disrespectful) going up there. No safety net and no barrier blocking you if you tumble down. Just you an a metal chain to hold which will only get you up 1/3 o"of the walk. Stupidity-one slip and you're dead.
Guide had prepared a fruit cake when we returned (I think she pissed off and bought it!) but didn't have any. Hate it.
Dropped off a few of our group to Ayers Rock airport and Ayers Rock resort before heading towards Alice (about 400km drive).
Stopped off at Mount Connor look out for lunch and took some nice pics (or facebook photos as they are more commonly known!). Ate a nice chicken, pepper, lettuce and cheese wrap before setting off again.
We were en route to a camel farm apparently. Don't think I've ever seen a camel unless they were in some zoo we were in...if so they must have been piss boring because I can't remember).
After what seemed like a very long drive, we arrived at camel farm - fierce boring.
We got back to Alice about 5.30pm and were dropped off at the door to hostel. Had a great 3 days bar the mice thing. We surfed the net for a while and decided against the after tour party because we were both shattered. Had some drinks and dinner down stairs in the local bar / restaurant and came to bed. Fireworks going off all over the place as it's the 1st July, the day the northern territory became it's own entity...I think. Alice had a massive party today and the town was jointed.
Good day today, flying to Melbourne e tomorrow to catch up with Sinéad and David. Might get a chance to post more later of these f***ing fire works don't stop going off. Think there's a law against fireworks after 9:30pm today but it's Alice and I guess both the police and laws are in short supply.
