Woke up pretty early today and noticed wifey was missing! Not to worry though, she was just on the Internet the hall. I logged on for a bit to check if there was any news back home. I saw that the boxers did quite well in European championships with 2 golds. We're really looking forward to seeing them @ the Olympics next summer! We strolled into Smith street for a look around the shops, while Carol looked around I found some free wifi in central Daarwwinn. (located on Smith street pedestrianised area). Dead handy and great idea! Maybe Ireland will catch on in about 5 years or so?!
Had some lunch at one of the malls there, I had a Chinese combo box, Carol had a thai combo box! Delicious! Then I finally took the plunge and bought me some Havianas! Hands down, the most comfortable things ever!
We strolled back to hostel for shuttle pick up at 12.35pm and before we knew it we were on flight to Alice Springs! (btw free wifi in domestic terminal after security @ airport).
Flight was only 2 hours and we had quick sandwich on board, ate cucumber and lettuce in a sandwich for first time ever! Long story but rabbit food isn't really my thing!
Touched on in Alice about 4.15pm. (definitely the town that tine forgot!).
Had a bit of a wait in hostel shuttle bus as we were waiting a few other flights but once on board the drive to Alice was quite entertaining although I couldn't understand a lot of why the bus driver was saying! Stopped at the custom 'Welcome to Alice Springs' sign for some pics!
Checked into Toddys hostel, again quite basic but it had 2 pools and a bat/restaurant! On check in we received. 2 x $10 meal/drink vouchers and 2 free shuttle bus return vouchers to airport for Friday before we head to Melbourne. Not a bad deal at all.
Had to walk into Alice (not something I was looking forward to, to be honest) to confirm rock tour booking. Didn't see any hassle but saw lots of Aboriginal folk, all kept to themselves. Went into Woolworths for some supplies for tomorrows trips to Kings Canyon, Kata Tjuta and Uluru! Got back to hostel and it was food/drink time! Toddys do meal deals on their menu where they do $5 and $10 meals each night. We went with the $5 spaghetti bolognese which was delicious! Also they do $8 pitchers of beer! I think I found my place on earth!
Once we were done we split for bed as we needed to re-org our back packs for tomorrows trip! Bring it on!!
