We were up and ready to about 8.30am this morning. Last few hours in van. It was definitely an experience but next time, I may get a bigger one!
We drove back to the bay in the hope they would be filming but no such luck. All the trucks were long gone. We decided to have breakfast in 'the diner', well, what they use the outside for! Was really cool just on the pier. I had eggs, bacon and bread while Carol had salmon, poached eggs and bread. After breakie was down, we took some pier pics before walking up to lighthouse. About 3 million steps and 3 heart attacks later, we reached it. Well worth the hassle to see the views of both sides of the peninsula. We headed back to surf club for some more last min pics before starting our trip back to Sydney to drop off van. We had 2,500 dollar bond on van so we were hoping/praying that it would make it through last few miles! We opted against insurance which meant we would not have any bond but it was very expensive. But that didn't stop the rep trying to guilt us into it.
Under the guidance of Lee, our sat nav friend we made it through streets of Sydney and dropped off van! Signed all papers and passed final checks, YES!!
Lou picked us up from the van depot and dropped us back to their apartment! Was just 10 mins walk from Bondi! Cool!!!
We even got to meet Lou's pet rabbit Rod! Very cute and fluffy!
She had to get back to work so en route she dropped us on Bondi strip. Bondi looked exactly like it was on TV. We took a few high up pics, and got some pizza at an Italian on the strip. We then moved onto the beach itself for an hour or so, walked up/down it, before heading back to apartment and getting ready for our dinner on Bondi night with Pat/Lou! Pat was gonna meet us straight from work at the Thai restaurant so while we awaited his call...well, we had some drinks didn't we??! We strolled towards restaurant, it was out the door, both people queuing for table and take out! Luckily Pat was there and booked us table. The restaurant was also BYO! we got a selection of starters and mains between us. It was the nicest Thai I've ever had! Tasty and spicy!
We took a stroll on Bondi at night - even at 10pm, people were running and roller blading!
We hopped in a cab and went to cock'n'bull Irish pub for a few drinks. If we were going to meet someone we knew, it was going to be in here!! As we got in, a rebel band struck up!
We didn't and after a few drinks we started our short walk home.
Couldn't wait to hit the bed tonight. We had our bridge climb tomorrow after a hop on/off bus tour to see the sights!
They actually breath test you before getting on the bridge itself :-) We are then going to head out in Sydney tomorrow night un a place called The Rocks. Can't wait!!
