Had an awesome time in Byron, I had high expectations about this place as everyone raves about it...but it was so good. One of the most chilled out places ever, I see why people book for a couple of nights and end up staying a few weeks...Stayed at Nomads Hostel a block from the beach, only a year old so very good, great AIR CONDITIONED rooms, hotel like bathrooms, etc. Made friends witha german girl called Lisa on the coach and we spent most days together hanging down the beach. Also met Laura and Lucy (both from Winchester actually, small world) and we all got on so well so had some mad nights out. Laura and I even went for a good run at 9am one morning after a heavy night out..aren't we good. Alex and Stu two Ozzie guys who were in my room had a car and took Lisa and I on a roadtrip one day to Nimbin, the most random village in the world, full of hippies and people living 'alternative' lifestyles, everyone basically getting high and rallying for the end of the prohibition of cannabis. Funny to walk around, local shops and a museum...the others wanted 'cookies' so we had to go down this alley and find this old aboriginal lady who was selling them...haha I didnt try them but Alex had a little shock when he did! We stopped at this beautiful waterfall on the way back and did a rainforest walk, such a fun day.
One day we walked up to the famous lighthouse which is at the most Easternly point in Australia. Stunning views from up there, we even saw wild dolphins swimming in the clear waters below.
One afternoon we went to Sunday Sessions at the Beach Hotel, amazing live band playing, it was packed. Full of crazy hippies raving it up on the dancefloor, great experience.
