Had a night's stop at Oamaru on the way from Christchurch to Dunedin, the bus broke down on the way (well it had to be fixed at a rest stop) so was about an hour late getting there. The hostel i stayed at had free internet - bargain. Oamaru is renowned for it's penguins colonies. I attempted a walk to see the yellow eyed penguins up a HUGE hill, then down a windy deserted track... but as it was nearly dusk decided to turn back. They probably wouldn't have been there anyway.
