My first day in Nelson i went to the i-site place (info centre) as I wanted to do a day in the Abel Tasman national park kayaking, and a half day wine tasting. So asking advice and being out of season they weren't sure if they were doing wine tours the next couple of days but they had one in half an hours time. Oh, OK then. There were only 4 of us on the tour, all from England, an old-ish couple and another girl. We went to 4 wineries around Nelson and had loads of tastings and some food platters. By the end of the afternoon they all tasted the same really. And we tried a fajioa like a green fruit thing looks a bit like a avocado/kiwi. I thought it tasted a bit liked how washing powder smells. But a reasonably pleasant furrrrooooot.
Called the kayak company to confirm the trip for the next day but i was the only one on it, so postponed until Wednesday. Hope the weather holds up...
The next day as i had nothing on i went to walk to the centre of New Zealand in Nelson. It claimed it was a moderately easy walk, about 20 minutes. LIARS. It was quite a steep path, and had confusing or non-existant signs - "10 mins to the centre" then 10 minutes later another sign "10 mins to the centre". Liars. Once i got to the top wheezing and sweating it was just a pole thing with a plaque and a misty view of the city. Average.
