Everyone was up early today as we all needed to pack (except for Catolina, who was staying). I returned my scooter to the hire shop, Jo moved from her hostel to common grounds (as they now had vacancies) and then we all went for brunch. We went to Om's Garden which was a lovely cafe just a short walk out of the main walking street. We all then chilled at the hostel until it was time for the first of us to leave. I mentioned that I hoped to get to down to Koh Chang for my last 5 days in South East Asia and with this Alicia said she would met me there. Jo then added that she had a few days to kill before she planned to head south so would be able to join to. We were all so excited, we were like a bunch of school kids. Cynthia then said she would try her best to get down as well but it would be more difficult for her as she will be in northern Cambodia around the time we were planning. Before the conversation had finished a Facebook message group had been made so we could all keep in contact and make the needed plans to all get to the same place at the same time.
Cynthia and Alicia left Pai at 2:30pm heading to Chiang Mai, Jo and I went to the bus station with them to wave them off. It didn't feel so bad knowing that we would all hopefully meet again in about 11 days. Jo and I then went back to the hostel, it was 37.3c at 12:30pm today so we had no energy to do anything, although we did have a look around the shops/stalls. Another magnet in the bag for Auntie Sandra!!
We went for dinner about 5pm and then it was time for me to leave. I said goodbye to Mitchell (hostel owner) who is such a cool guy. He's American, he was travelling about 18months ago and arrived in Pai and never left, he then brought and opened common grounds. It is the best hostel of the trip so far and I think it will remain the best by far. Jo walked with me to the bus stations and after hugs and wishes of safe travels I got on the bus and left Pai.
The bus journey was a hellish 6 hours, especially back down the 762 bends that take you up to Pai and in the dark is much worse. We were meant to arrive in Chiang Kohng at midnight, we eventually arrived at 1:30am. We were shown to our rooms, I call this a room but it was like a wooden shack next to the river in the middle of nowhere. I was so tired I went straight to bed, not like there was anything else to do. I pulled the curtains and no less the four geckos ran out from behind the curtains. I will admit I did scream, they scared me although I don't mind geckos I don't want them in my room. For the first time last night I slept in my sleeping bag inner and under my mosquito net, just so my little gecko friends could not get to up, close a personal.
