Visited the Terracotta Warriors Museum this morning. The Terracotta Warriors are not called the "8th Great Wonder of the World" for nothing. Unearthed in 1974 by simple farmers digging a well, these life-sized soldiers, horses and chariots were all individually carved...down to their fingerprints!!!! There are over 6,000 of these clay statues, all in battle formation and facing east, in order to protect China's first emperor, Qin Shihuang. It is again another must see if visiting China. I have some really cool photos, which I promise I will upload soon. I know I keep promising but some of us are busy living a little!!
Went to the Tang Dynasty Royal Dancing Show in the evening and it was soooo boring!! The costumes were great but after seeing one dance, we literally had seen them all, and yet we had to see them all over and over again for an hour and a half!! They also had some live traditional Chinese music and some guy played a traditional Chiense flute that would just blow the ears of an elephant!! The best dance was when the men came out dressed as Terracotta Warriors and did various acrobatic things. I wouldn't overly recommend wasting your money on entertainment like this for the evening!!
Flying to Guilin tomorrow and then taking the bus to Yangshuo in the evening. Looking forward to this as it is situated in some lovely countryside and it's also the Chinese National Holiday so it will be mobbed with Chinese tourists as opposed to Western ones!!
