n the morning I woke Cassie up and we jumped on the boat to Koh Lanta. Had a good chat...like all of our chats have been with her J She's great company, a great laugh and we seem to get on really well. We strolled around the village and down the beach; stopped for a drink and ended up chatting there for 3 hours...we grabbed some dinner and chatted back at the hostel. She also attempted to teach me guitar - I now know a few chords. YEY. The following day was my BIRTHDAY. I woke up to some lovely messages (Mostly impressed with Phil who remembered (miracle, or maybe he was reminded by Niamh) and was the first one to message me in the morning!) Good effort. We had a relaxing breakfast at our hostel, did a bit of stretching and Pilates...then eventually dragged ourselves out to explore the island. Jumped on a scooter (250 baht for 24 hours) and off we went. We went down some small roads that looked interesting...some were rubbish others were great! We discovered an amazing tea place that made proper Chai tea...made of cinnamon, ginger, milk and tea - DELICIOUS! We had to go back today for some more it was that good, despite the fact that it was 60 baht ($2!). We carried on scooting down to the Old Town, and had some lunch looking out at the sea ...it was so romantic just Cassie and I tucking into some Thai dishes we hadn't tried before (ginger and pepper dish and chicken and cashew nuts). They were both lovely meals. See some of the artistic photos we took in the album (yet to add, sorry!) On our way back we stopped on the beach and played in the sand taking some silly photos. It was such a laugh. I'll definitely have to get them from her and add them to my album. We also stopped in a bar called Rastabar for a 100 baht cocktail. I enjoyed a mango daiquiri and Cassie had a yummy mango mojito! Both were delicious. Oh and I got a free tequila shot...I may have been a little tipsy on just these two drinks. On our way back we picked up some Thai red wine, crisps and Lindt chocolate and headed back to the hostel. We spent the rest of the night talking, playing guitar, drinking and munching! I had a great birthday, and I must thank Cassie for making it special. So surreal having a birthday on a Thailand island, drinking cocktails and playing in the sea with great company! Almost seems like a dream J And to top that off I got to skype Kat and Carine. Good days, although I did miss home when I said goodbye L and sad I couldn't celebrate it with everyone back home.
This morning, (Thursday morning), we were up and out of the hostel by 9.30am and headed straight to the place that served Chai Tea. Yum yum. Then we scooted all the way down the island to the very bottom. The views were incredible...we stopped for some photos, took in the scenery and had a dip in the sea to cool down. We were back in time for the bike hire. This afternoon we have been chilling, eating, booking the next few days in Malaysia, and listening to Cassie playing some tunes on the guitar. It rained this afternoon! It was quite nice J I think we are off for some cheap food and then we plan to watch 'The Beach' on my laptop! Good times.
Thank goodness I am up to date with the blog! I won't leave it so long next time.
Thank you all so much for my Birthday messages. I really appreciate them...
