Hi Folks
It's a cold first Saturday in sunny 2010 and we are at home in the UK anticipating our departure on 20th January to New Zealand for a 3 month cycling trip.
Yes that's cycling as on bicycles! This is one of my lifelong wishes and we are going to get it under our belts while we still can.
The blogs will not be so frequent (or big) as when we were in Australia and we obviously won't be carrying a laptop this time, and will rely on internet cafes to keep in touch.
The only plans as regards advanced bookings etc is a B+B in Christchurch for Friday and Saturday nights, then on Sunday it's on the bikes to cycle 74K to Julia and Brian O'Sullivan's Cyclist Retreat in Waikari.They sound like brilliant people and live in a 10-acre idyllic spot and we are really looking forward meeting them both.
After that our direction of travel and route will be determined by the advice we receive from Brian, and experienced long distance cyclist and former NZ cycle tour planner.
If you want to send messages via this web site (nothing too rude . . . remember everyone can read them!) then please feel free to do so. If you are on the list and want to be removed then please let us know in the next 2 weeks or so and I will remove you.

Frigid Doris Dear Very Cold Shirley, Pleased to hear that you will be on the road again and looking forward to hearing many interesting and witty anecdotes. Of course, cycling for 3 months around the Shires of Middle Earth is no substitute for driving up the A12 each week but I'm sure you'll find adventure.
