Today was another relaxing day on the beach. We enjoyed another great breakfast and then it was off to kayak around the small islands near our beaches. We brought our camera along in a dry bag but were too scared to pull it out with all of the waves so we didn't take any pictures.
There are two islands right off the beach so we headed there first. The rock formations of the sandstone and lava, along with the caves and tunnels created by the sea were very intricate. There was a surprising amount of vegetation growing off of the sheer rock faces as well. We saw a lot of sea life as well - jelly fish, small minnows of every color and some zebra stripped fish. We also saw several different birds flying about.
We then headed over to a bay below our hike vantage point from yesterday. The rock formations were smaller but created a maze to navigate where we saw more fish as well as crabs climbing among the barnacles on the rocks. Last, we paddled across the length of the beach, avoiding the long tail boats and their crazy drivers, to see some of the big boats up close and a few more caves and large rocks in the water.
We finished around noon, just as it was really starting to warm up and the sun broke through what was mostly an overcast morning. We then headed to the beach and pool closest to our hut. The water was cool and refreshing and there was a hot tub like section with lots of bubbles but the water was still cool. The pool was an infinity style where the water drains over the sides and we swam near the edge watching the crazy Europeans and their skimpy and, quite often, absent swimsuits.
The afternoon was spent back on the same beach as yesterday, enjoying the shade and comfort of chairs underneath the trees. We enjoyed tea time again this afternoon though we think a chilled drink would be more appropriate for this climate. Tonight, we are going to watch the sunset and enjoy a fancier Thai dinner at one of the hotel's restaurants. Tomorrow we've booked a boat tour to Phi Phi Island to see something different and do some snorkeling.
