Today was supposed to be a short blog entry day, and until about 7pm tonight it would have been! We really focused on relaxing today! Kevin got sick last night, so we slept in. He relaxed while I ate breakfast and then we decided to read by the pool. We found a spot where he was in the shade and I was able to get a little sun. We read, slept, and reviewed the addition plans most of the day. I grabbed some lunch around 2 and we stayed out by the pool until around 5. It was a beautiful day, it was only hot if you were in the sun for a long time, but a quick dip in the pool cooled you down. We also had an umbrella to get out of the direct sun whenever we needed to.
At six we headed to the spa. It's pretty amazing with two jacuzzis (one hot and one slightly cooler), a steam room, and two waterfall pools, one cold and one hot. We had been going between all of the different pools for about 45 minutes or so when Kevin got super light headed. I grabbed some water for him and we made our way back to the room. We realized that after being sick the night before he hadn't drank enough water and was probably really dehydrated after being outside all day and the jacuzzis really did him in. This is where the excitement began!
Since Kevin wasn't in any shape to go down to our dinner reservation I went and talked to the hostess to see what our options were. After a few phone calls (they aren't supposed to allow guests to take food to their room from the restaurants, but we were prepaid for our dinner), the buffet manager said I could come and get some food and take it back. The buffet restaurant is in the main hotel, so I walked over and made a hummus and turkey shwarma for myself and luckily they had some chicken broth with noodles for Kevin. I got back to the room and Kevin was able to eat about ½ the soup and drank a good amount of water, but his head was really hurting. Of course all I had was ibuprofen and we knew he needed Tylenol instead. I recalled seeing a drug store in the main hotel so I walked back over, only to find that the "drug store" had a total of 0 drugs for sale, it was all suntan lotion, pool toys and trinkets. They told me of a pharmacy a 5 minute walk away, but they didn't speak very good English so I asked them to point in the right direction.
Outside the hotel the town was bustling! There were tourists walking down the street, the boardwalk shops were all lit up along the beach, it was actually very nice. If I had longer I would have strolled for a bit! I found a grocery store and checked there but they only had ibuprofen, and a couple of minutes later I decided to try looking on the boardwalk and then I found the pharmacy. I picked up some 7Up, some acetaminophen, and what appeared to be a vitamin water/Gatorade type of drink. I trekked back to the hotel to my patient. I heated the rest of his soup up in the hot pot in the room (supposed to be for tea) and had him take some Tylenol.
At this point I think he is well hydrated and he is sleeping. I hope that he feels better tomorrow as it's a big day for us. We are going over the border to Jordan, for a jeep ride in the desert, and we might even get to ride a camel! This time we'll make sure that we are drinking plenty of water!
