J: We started our ride and what a city to be on a bike, it's simply crazy. There are no rules on the road, you pay no attention to red lights or traffic at junctions. Everyone just pulls out and hits their horn to announce their presence and when they overtake. Took me a couple miles to get used to this but now I'm a pro! It's a great way to ride, it feels both crazy and natural.
We rode the bike all the way to Ha Long Bay, Sam navigates on the back while taking photos of the scenery, she does a great job, although some instructions can be confusing.... I'm at a junction and I get instructions of "right, left".
S: Ok, I admit that was a poor choice of words. But I am definitely putting my newfound skills on my CV.
The ride was great, although we both found our bottoms going numb lol, so we pulled over for a quick rest and a coffee (these Vietnamese coffee's are defiantly a pick-you-up). We arrived in Ha Long Bay and it was great, although we did think we might run out of petrol at one stage and had to drive 15 kilometers out of the way to find a petrol station. We went for a walk along the prom and it was a beautiful night, we had dinner on the beach by the sea, we ordered shrimps and rice. When we asked about the shrimps the guy said they were small, but they were massive prawns. So big I could put their heads on my fingers lol, but they were delicious.
