S: we continued to drive down the coast, and eventually hit Mallocoota. We hooked Tiny up, and brought some beer (it just kept disappearing- I've no idea how lol) and we caught some sun time so the guys could go back with a tan. We decided to BBQ the fish and I went off with the boys to get them filleted and ready to cook. In the communal kitchen a lot of locals were asking us how the day had been, and one family kindly gave us their filleting knife to make it easier for Yuri to fillet the fish. We then managed to grab the BBQ overlooking the lake and started cooking our fish, when the man's wife came and put some cut potatoes on the BBQ as she thought they would go nice with our dinner. Yuri was quite surprised at this and we explained that it's quite normal to share food and help each other out in Australia.
J: The family also told us about a little trick, so we took the fish scraps to the sea edge and with a little teasing, Yuri was hand feeding Pelicans! They are big birds and it was awesome to see them eating fish, they just swallowed them straight down.
The fish meal was really tasty, and it felt good to know we had caught them ourselves.
The next morning, we tried to feed the Pelicans again using bread, they knew the difference and wouldn't eat it. We decided to get out on the water, we considered kayaks but as Mel isn't confident on the water, me and Yuri figured the small motor boat would be much more stable and a better idea...... Oh how wrong were we!
S: Going along the lake was great, nice and calm. Then we had to cross the middle of the lake oh boy!! It suddenly felt like we were on a roller coaster and getting wet at the same time lol. Poor Mel looked scared but she embraced the journey and we were rewarded when we hit the waterways as it was beautiful and very calm again. Yuri drove back and it wasn't any easier returning lol. I hid in the cabin to avoid getting wet. We managed to get back and Mel survived just about I think?? We decided afterwards maybe the canoe would of been a better idea.
