Now you wouldn't think Arco, ID would be a place we would stay 2 nights, but we sure did...Why you may ask. Well let me tell you.
First, Arco is a teeny town outside of Craters of the Moon national park. It was the first city lit by atomic power, and they still boast that to this day on a large movie sign on main street. They also have half a submarine in what I guess would be considered a park as you drive into the city. After we settled into our hotel, we had a wander around town, then David and I had some peanuts and a couple beers at a small bar, (well there is only one bar in town) and then some tuna sandwiches back at the hotel.
And then 3 am hit... I was struck suddenly and drastically with my first bout of food poisoning. For about 24 hours, the toilet, and a small garbage can which I could retch into were my best friends. Those and my lovely husband who took wonderful care of me. Luckily we had wi-fi so David was able to play internet poker, inbetween holding my hair back. So needless to say, we extended our stay in Arco. At least I know what to expect when I get it again, which I likely will in Asia.
But luckily I recovered and we were on our way again.
