Well, one thing that we did find out, as I phoned a hotel for reservations the morning we were to set out to Yellowstone, is that Yellowstone closes for 2 weeks out of the year to allow snow to build up before their winter season. Oops. David took it very well...no really he did. So although we didn't get to explore Yellowstone, or The Grand Tetons and Jackson, WY, we did have a lovely time in Bozeman.
It was also wonderful to drive through Montana, and David loved it! I had told him that it was BIG sky country, that the sky seems enormous and he agreed. With the huge mountains surrounding us as we drove, the vast sky in front of us and the ranches spread out over the country side, David thouroughly enjoyed Montana.
We drove through Butte, which is an old mining town, and has one of the highest Irish populations in the US (which David thought the old brick buildings and dreary look reminded him of England - so not his favorite place) and then stayed in Bozeman for two nights. The first night we got there rather late and had a pint at a bar, then ventured off to another bar and got quite toasty. The next morning was the infamous phone call which lead us to realize that we would not in fact be proceding onto Yellowstone, so we hung out in Bozeman, went to the museum and Planetarium there (not the greatest I have ever been to) and grabbed a meal at the Pita Pit, I had a gyro, which we will learn later was not a good idea.
Overall Montana was wonderful and it is definetely on our list of places to return to and I will bring David back to Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons, and Jackson. Untill then.
