On the way to our next destination we stop at 1770 which is where australia was first founded by captain cook, there's not much to do here so we sit on the beach and prepare ourselves for the next part of the journey. So we are duets check in at 4pm and so leave with plenty of time at midday. When there's only about 70km to go the car starts acting up, after the 9 hour drive yesterday and having almost 400000km on its click we are not surprised and pull over in the next town to call for help, the racq say they will be at least an hour so we walk off to get food, it's so hot and we are walking along the path when suddenly Elliot screams SNAKE! I don't even look but realise I've stood in it and it's now hanging off my flip flop! I scream and kick my shoe right of and start to run and the snake slithers into a bush! My closest near death experience yet, although I didn't see it Elliot is pretty certain it was a brown snake the 2nd most deadly snake In the world! We go to a bar and grill to get food and I am still shaking for a good 20 minutes! When we get back to the car there's a lovely note saying the racq had been and gone. Brilliant. Can this day get any worse. We call again and sit and wait by the car, of course this time it takes over an hour! The we are finally back in the road. We arrive in Hervey Bay just in time and check in to the hostel to find that our friends from whitsundays are on the same trip! We decide to all chip in together to buy food and drink for the trip. With 10 of us this is a lot harder than we expected and are in the supermarket for almost 2 hours! We get back to the hostel, play a few games and prepare for our 6am start!
