We slept alright with the sound of traditional music all night long. Had a quick bite of pan dulce before catching a bus to Santiago, then change at El Triunfo and waited for a while in San Miguel before catching our bus to Perquin. The journey lasted about 5 hours in total. It was very hot and cramped but well it was a great experience to live, in the bus with gente local de el salvador. In buses here, at every stop, people are coming in offering food and drinks. When we arrived in Perquin, we found our hotel and left our luggage. A bit rustic and old, could do with a lick of paint but well we are only here for two nights. After dropping our luggage we headed off to the town centre which is very typical too and went to visit two war museums as Perquin was one of the bastions of guerilla war in the 70s 80s. It was very moving and we were given a guided tour by former guerilleros. After that, we went back at the top of Cerro de Perquin from where we had a magnificent view of the village and the surrounding mountains. We then went back to the village square to listen to some music and ate some lovely food in a cheap place called La casa de mi abuela. Tomorrow, we have booked a guided tour to El Mozote and Rio Sapo which is located at about 10km from where we are staying.
