The last few days we played in Austria in a flash upgrade hotel due to our initial hotel screwing up. Yay! Custom designed beds for best relaxation and dreams. Vienna was a beautiful city. Clean orderly and more to the way we're use to.
I attended the Mozart Concert and Dinner last night. I was more than disappointed that we spent 1 and a half hours stuck in traffic and misses the entire first half of the show. I imagine I would have really enjoyed it if we had the full opportunity. So really I felt that $81 very wasted as the meal wasn't worth that money with half a concert.
The weather today was cold and miserable with rain most of the day. This is the first bad day however the weather was fitting for the mood of today's main activity.
This morning we went to Mauthausen Concentration Camp in Austria. We all know the history and what horrific things happened in those places but when you walk through the barracks, the gas chambers and the crematorium of these places knowing how many people died in such horrible ways there it becomes more real than we've ever known or felt before. Watching a camp specific film which included amateur video footage from some American soldiers who came to liberate the camp these people then became even more real. These weren't actors re-enacting the conditions and appearances of what happened here they were the real people who were here skin and bone surrounded by dead bodies. Although we were there only a short time today it's definitely a place we'll remember.
The bus was pretty quiet most of the day beyond that. Andrew and I are in Munich tonight taking it easy. We did visit a beer hall briefly and saw some locals around the place in their Friday Night Beer hall gear. Amusing!
Switzerland tomorrow.
