Had a very 'touristy' time here in Sydney... Arrived early doors after a twelve hour bus journey, said I wouldn't get on another bus after our particularly horrendous one in Thailand but I figured it would be ok and yeah it was fine apart from me and Lucy couldn't sit together and this was frustrating as we are joined at the hip!! Got sat next to a really interesting girl she shared a few of her experiences which sounded very brave I would not dare travel the outback with four strangers in a campervan. Hello? Had she watched Wolf Creek?!
Anyways we checked into Wake Up and ended up in a room with three really annoying Swedish girls and a weird guy and so after trying to catch up on our sleep we were ready to see Sydney! We joined in on the Coogee to Bondi beach walk which was a beautiful day, both dressed in warm clothes after thinking the weather was forecast to be bad wasn't so great but we saw plenty of golden sands and crystal waters to make us smile! The walk felt so good as I've not been doing any exercise for a while... We had the best fish and chips on the seafront at Bondi too which was a lovely finish to the day! Next we planned to go see the infamous Harbour Bridge and Opera House but it rained all day so we spent our time drinking happy hour beers!! We weren't really feeling the overrated and overpriced hostel so decided to move, wasn't the best move as everyone in the Big Hostel resembled lazy travellers who had came to a stand still and sat in the common room all day/night for what looked like the the past few months all in their own click and didn't speak but we didn't care really, it's just nice to be sociable sometimes?! Our room had a real girly feel though and ended up just being the two of us and another girl who was barely there! Score since it was meant to be an eight bed dorm!! Looking back I wish we just stayed at Bounce that's the top hostel here in Sydney, you definitely get what you pay for.
Luckily the weather stayed okay but cold for the rest of our time and we made the effort to go visit the landmarks! They both looked amazing with the sun beaming down especially on the Harbour Bridge, that same night it was the start of the Vivid Light Festival so we went back to see them all lit up! There was alsorts going on around them and had a good very busy vibe of people checking everything out, a few snaps later we were so cold so headed back!! We also had a trip planned to The Blue Mountains, was really looking forward to this after the two Irish girls we worked with recommended it! It would have been a much warmer/better day had we dressed appropriately, I rocked up in flip flops and no coat! Silly me but I managed to find a granny jumper in the charity shop for $5 our tour guide insisted that me as Lucy get something and stop being 'glamour pusses' as he kept calling us! So my feet nearly fell off to see the breathtaking views but it was worth it but I suppose everything is better when it's great weather?! This was a fun but long day and the group we were with were nice! One night me and Lucy got all dressed up intentionally to hit Kings Cross but two bottles of wine later we were too drunk and decided to stay and annoy our boring hostel friends haha... Sydney is a place I'd only visit once to see everything, if I'm honest we are still in Melbourne mood and after spending so long there we are finding it difficult to adjust back to travelling around living out of a suitcase and sharing dorms with strangers. But it's all part of our experience and sharing it together is still amazing!!
