Three nights in this hippy small surfer place has been enough this time around. I think we would fall in love with the place if the weather was better, it's hard to judge somehere when you can't do much because of tropical rainstorms but from what I've seen it's a lovely non commercial town full of down to earth happy go lucky people... We gave it a good go though and put up with the worst hostel to date that we've stayed in. Backpackers Inn, friendly enough but it was like a motel style the rooms were freezing and the bathroom was like showering outside! Proud of us for staying the two nights we booked as earlier in our trip we couldn't have done it we are definitely growing some grapefruits!! We went down to Cheeky Monkeys for their Mexican night after sleeping the whole day listening to the rain bouncing off the floor, we didn't mind this time as been on another overnight journey from Sydney. So for our food and a free margarita cocktail it was only $5 bargain and the food was actually nice! Hurray it was bright outside when we woke next morning so quickly got ready and walked into the centre of Byron, both treated ourselves to a bit of retail therapy and walked along the beach in cardigans and jeans! The surf dudes were out in force this day, me and Lucy enjoyed observing until the black clouds came. We decided to hit Cheeky Monkeys again for a backpacker night as sounded like it was gonna be busy one with cheap drinks on offer and chances to win stuff! After some well deserved goon we went down in our new outfits and joined in with the loud happy atmosphere!! Hats off to the girls topless on stage to win a Fraser Island trip... For our last night we have changed to the Nomads hostel, hit lucky again with only three of us in a room! There is a good bunch of people in this one, they seem to love Byron and have jobs in the town. Should have went to Cocomangos tonight but feeling fragile from last night. Just ate a large pizza and garlic bread with Lucy and chilling in the tv room, because of the weather we are moving to Surfers Paradise tomorrow :) not holding my breath for sunshine maybe we are gonna have to make the most of the East Coast in utter crap weather!?
