Arrived here 19th March so spent quite a lot of time being a city girl! Not going to lie my first thoughts of Melbourne weren't so good, I was ready to fly back home after my first week or two! Leaving Thailand and coming here was a huge change but finally here we are settled two months later and living in our own home (the boys home) in Yarraville! Stayed at the Habitat HQ in St Kilda for our first month until we realised they were ripping our eyes out... The hostel was a really good experience though and met some weird and wonderful people in there! Luckily we shared the same six bed dorm with our two Irish charms and Scotsman who kindly invited us to live with them until we moved on! Lots of hilarious times with these three, their personalities are something else never a dull moment only when they hide my clothes or hack my facebook!! This has saved us a lot of pennies and lucky us got a job straight away working at BMS telecom!! Decided to stay here a few weeks until we had saved up some dollars for the East Coast, cold calling on behalf of Energy Australia for five weeks was tough at times but we've spent the past three weeks playing cards as they ran out of data woooo $21 an hour thankyou very much!! Made some awesome friends through work and really grown to like being in there everyday joking around, having data back could have been a different story though! Working whilst travelling was the last thing I expected to do but it was an opportunity I wasn't going to miss as you get paid so well here and of course got to meet some lovely people to socialise with! They organised us a leaving night drinks and pizza with Earl Tech serenading us on his guitar!!
Before we started work we managed to squeeze in a couple of lovely days catching the rays on St Kilda Beach before it got too cold, a perfect day drinking vino in the Botanical Gardens, watching sunsets, having BBQs at the hostel and did the tour along the world renowned Great Ocean Road on Easter Weekend! I loved this day, weather was slightly off but we saw some amazing views and landmarks including the 12 Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge. Also Koalas asleep in the trees, gutted I didn't see a Kangaroo though! We have experienced a lot of nightlife around Melbourne after a box of goon, missed out on a lot too as it's so big and lots of different places to go. I even met an Aussie hunk after a night out at Cushion and ended up spending the best part of three weeks going on dates with him, having a seven course meal on the 89th floor of the Eureka Skydeck has to be my favourite :)
Shopping here could be amazing but I've had to stop myself from buying so many clothes as my case is about to burst, treated myself to a few things though and got my roots done before we move on! My sister kindly sent me a package with some warm clothes as it's winter season here. Can't wait to return in the Summer I think I'll love Melbourne even more!! Leaving for Sydney tonight feeling a lot more independent and happy! It's been emotional but East Coast let's do this we have booked some amazing things so excited but sad to leave at the same time...
