Fraser Island is one of my highlights. We hired a 4x4 to drive around the largest sand island in the world. There were 7 in our group and we all got on so well. It was a 3 day 3 night camping trip. We drove on the beach, but had to stick to an itinerary because of the tides. In land driving was fun, although similar to driving on ice. A couple if times we had to dig the car out of the sand because we got stuck. Not when I was driving though. Most of my driving was on the beach, only small bits were in land, to bypass rocks and cliffs. The tide was coming in so it was a bit hairy in parts. You're not allowed to drive in the water at all. We saw amazing things; wabby lake, champayne pools. indian head, eil creek, central station and lake MeKenzie, they were all stunning. The only thing I don't miss about being there is the amount of flipping sand flies. They bite you and were everywhere when the sun went down!
