We're getting used to the various US accents now but the Boston or 'Bahston' accent seems to be a whole different kettle of fish. It's not just an accent; it's a lifestyle.Everyone who speaks like this seems to have a swagger about them, because they think they're better than people from other parts of the US; they trace back to the pilgrims; they are the original pioneers. They also seem to use the word 'wicked' a lot: "Yoah retahded if ya don't think the red sawx ah wicked awesome".
Loved overhearing the lingo as we toured around the city along the Freedom Trail - although it did get quite annoying reading about how great the US were fighting against the British.Very one-sided all this tour information.
We also did as the Bahstonians do and headed down to Cape Cod for a little 'vacation'.Spent a few days cycling around the peninsula, chilling at our campsite and snoozing on the beach. We also ferried it over to the island of Martha's Vineyard which despite the name is actually a surprisingly difficult place to get a drink.Apparently there is a vineyard in the middle of the island but otherwise there are only a couple of places that have recently obtained liquor licences and elsewhere the island is completely dry.False advertising I say.Still, we had a lovely day cycling around and got very envious of some of the waterside pads - very swanky place indeed - a bit Salcombe-esque.In fact, it was the first place in the States to get a Jack Wills so you get the picture of what it's like. Oh yah it's very rah near Bahston.
