Only got about 20mins until the internet cuts off and can't afford to get more so if this blog ends quickly you know why!
We are in Australia. Love it! Only been here a few days and already having a great time but come back to Oz in a bit.
Singapore. Such a cool city. We pretty much walked around the whole island, well not quite but round all the main tourist areas. We thought KL had a lot of shopping malls but Singapore was ridiculous, about 17000 just on one street. We didn't really go in them here though, just wandered around everywhere else. One of the days was a bit of a write of because of the rain. I was under the impression that when it rained in Asia, it monsooned it down and then cleared up. I was wrong. When it rains it rains all day and then looks like it might stop and then gets worse. We spent half of that day eating free toast at the hostel and chatting to other people before we decided to brave it and went to a prisoner of war museum which was really good actually and the long journey there on the bus and underground meant we didn't get wet. It cleared up by the night time when we went to this free open air concert which was ok. We went to the zoo on our last day which was really good especially the baboons which we watched for hours. We were given the wrong tickets and could of got into the night safari too but we were all zooed out by that time and my uncle had got in touch and said he would pay for me to have a Singapore Sling cocktail at the place it was invented. So we headed back to the hostel, washed and put on our nicest clothes and headed out for possibly the nicest cocktail ever. Was uber expensive but so worth it. Thanks Uncle Dennis. We also went to the bar in the tallest hotel in Singapore which had amazing views over the city. Fortunetly it was busy so we didn't have to buy a drink. The highlight of that evening though was the worlds biggest fountain. We were expecting something pretty special, unfortunately it turned out to be the worlds most disappointing fountain. It was just a bit of water that produced a lot of spray and had a light show infront of it. I''m not sure how it had it's guinness world record certificate! The next day it rained again so we hung around in the hostel until our flight, which was fine.
Australia. Complete change to Asia. We didn't think we had acclimatized to the heat in Asia but in Australia even though it is about 30 degrees we are wearing our hoodies and stuff. It is gorgeous. My constant shiny face that i'm sure you have noticed in the pics has disappeared. The first day we were so nackered we didn't do much. We had an over night flight so we were on a plan for 4hours, then a 3hour wait, then another three hour flight, so spent first day mooching around and gasping at how expensive it is in Australia. We were inder impression it was cheaper than England but the food in the supermarket is ridiculous. Gone are our afternoon cakes and meals out every night. Tonight we had pasta with baked beans. It is easy o get over though when you realise you are in Australia. We went to the Great Barrier Reef which was amazing. Think probably best thing we have done so far. I abondoned Toyah for a couple of hours at the beginning of the boat ride to go stand with the other sickies at the back of the boat throwing their sick bags into the water. Luckily it passed in time for out dive. They gave us a free introductory dive and had the option of doing proper one after. Me and Toyah were crap, especially me! Think the woman was relieved when we said we weren't going on the main dive. Was so glad we did it though and if we had some proper lessons would be tempted to do it again. Saw some fishes when we were there two. We did loads of snorkelling. We paid bit more for a boat that went to the outer reefs because they are better and the water shallower and so glad we did because you could pretty much touch corala nd fish if you wanted to. It was amazing, looked just like it does on Finding Nemo. Didn't want to leave, was gutted when they called us back in. Got another chance at another reef which was even better!
After the excitement of the reef we moved on to a village called Karanda just for the night. This was the nicest little village during the day with loads of hippy stores and cafes and stuff. Went for a rainforset walk too. Then at 3 oclock everything closes apart from two pubs. All the shops and restaurants and everything. Was so random. We ended up in the one pu that stayed open and they kicked us out at 10 and said they usually closed at 9. Our hostel was bit strange too, everyone was permanent resisdents there, all really nice but just a bit strange. We left this morning and are now in Mission beach in the nicest little family run hostel. The beach is amazing and just going to chill out here for a few days we think. Oh yeah and there is a chippy that sells chips for 75p so we can even afford to eat out. Arh ran out of time. Check out photos on facebook. We have finally found computers that will upload them. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
