Katie's Adventures
I'm back in Cairns after nearly a week of travelling further North up the East Coast. We started off last Monday with a 2 hour drive to Cape Tribulation, which included a massive food shop and a ferry across a Crocodile infested Creek! We found a nice camp called Jungle Lodge and it worked out $24 a night to camp with power. Unfortunately, we had a TV but couldn't get a signal being in the rainforest or mobile phone signals! The first night Liam cooked us a lovely Spag Bol and we drank lots of wine and played UNO before passing out. The next day was Anna's 25th birthday, so we cooked breakfast and she opened her presents. We drove down to see if we could do a Crocodile Cruise and when we reached the place the van had gone over a nail so we had a flat tyre! To add to the annoyance we had just missed the last cruise of the day! So we called the RACQ out and they changed the tyre with a spare that was running out of air! We risked the 30 min drive back to Camp and decided to start drinking and playing UNO. It started raining not long after so we had to sit inside the camper and waited for it to stop before heading to PK's for beer and dinner. Got in around 1am drunk as skunks! We pre-booked the Croc Cruise for the Weds, so we got down there for 1pm and the weather was still crap, cold and rainy. We saw a huge croc before we had even got on the boat, but luckily for us he was the other side of the river. The cruise was an hour long down Cooper Creek and we saw two crocs feeding by the side of the river and two more on another bank. We had to get the tyres sorted on the van so drove down there afterwards and if anyone has seen a film called Wolf Creek then they will understand when I mean that the garage was just like the one in the film! Really creepy! That night we drank two Tropical Bottles of wine I got Anna for her birthday, a Lychee Wine and Possums Pleasure - really good! On Thursday we drove down to Cape Tribulation beach and had a look and it's beautiful, would love to see it in Summer. We then headed to Mossman where they have a beautiful Gorge. We camped there overnight where the TV actually worked so we sat in all night watching crap TV! Friday we drove to Port Douglas and it's lovely there, so many nice restaurants and shops, Anna and I cooked dinner, Chicken Fajitas and left Liam at the camper and had a girls night out. Got extremely drunk and we got told off for being noisy coming back into the caravan park! Felt so crap on Saturday, we cooked breakfast and did laundry before a walk on the beach. The weather is really windy at the moment so too cold to sit down the beach for long. Last night we stayed in watching The Bill and that on TV as we were too crap for anything else! I'm staying at a different hostel in Cairns now, the same one as Anna and Liam were at before and funnily enough, the same room! I've opted for a single as it's only 2 nights and works out around 20 quid a night. Start my Intrepid Tour on Tuesday and we stay in Cairns until Wednesday and the hotel is really nice! A little bit of luxury for me to look forward to for at least one night! x x x x
