I thought I'd spent far too long in Rotorua until last night. On Wednesday night I went to the cinema for the first time on my own! I saw John Tucker Must Die, which was pretty crap but better than sitting in a hostel with no TV and no English people. So yesterday I was bored out of my brains and then I met a girl who was in my dorm, she was Aman from London. So we got chatting and I started speaking to another girl called Hannah from Leeds - why hadn't these people arrived sooner!
So this morning me, Aman and an American guy called Matt went Zorbing! It's bascially a big golf ball thing with water in and you roll down a hill in it! It was so much fun, cost $35 as me and Aman did one together. We had to wear a bikini and they provided shorts and t-shirt and we got driven to the top of the hill. We had to take a running jump into the ball through a hole, which was quite hard, once inside there was some warm water being pumped in and then the guy zipped us in. We had to walk forward and then is started rolling down the hill and the water was going everywhere and we were just all over the place! We didn't go upside down but it was so much fun! It wasn't long enough either but I really enjoyed it.
So not satisfied with just that, we decided to head further up the road to the Swoop! It's a big swing type thing that you get harnessed in and they lifted us 40m into the air (literally just under the bunjee jump launcher!). All three of us did it together and I was in the middle and Matt had to pull the cord to released us! It cost $38 each. So they strapped us in and then we were lifted highed and highed (too high for my liking) and then Matt says "Shall I pull the cord?" and we were like, "Just get it over with!" and with that, he pulled it and OH MY GOD! I am so glad I never ate before as the poor people watching would have been wearing it! I closed my eyes as I honestly thought we were going to hit the ground! It was amazing, we were going around 100mph and we swang back and forth a few times. I was shaking like a leaf once I got off. If you get that chance, try it, such good fun, especially you adrenelin junkies!
So I am in Tauranga until Sunday and there's nothing much to do here. The hostel is full of young pissheads by the looks of thing. I am sharing a room with a couple of nice ladies but I am just hoping that the next 48 hours fly by. I am really excited about going to the Bay of Islands - Aman is going there too so we're going to meet up
Just to say thanks to for all your messages on my website, it's nice to hear from you and all the emails - big thanks to Andrea, Lucy and Helen who always keep me updated! And those of you who I haven't heard from, thanks too for not keeping in touch! x x x
